Built in Kathmandu, Nepal 🇳🇵 by a 17-year-old

Self-taught web developer building real products from Kathmandu. DesiConvert is my first startup — built to solve a real problem for people in Nepal and around the world.
I'm Sajal, a 17-year-old developer from Kathmandu, Nepal. I started learning HTML and CSS on my own, watching YouTube videos and building small projects. One day I needed to convert a PDF for school and every website I tried was either full of ads, slow, or wanted me to pay. I thought — I can build something better.
DesiConvert started as a simple learning project. Now it's a real product that I'm proud of, used by people across Nepal and beyond. I built every line of code myself — the backend, the design, the deployment, everything.
Most free file converters online are slow, covered in misleading ads, or secretly charge you. DesiConvert is genuinely free, fast, and respects your privacy — your files are deleted within 60 seconds of conversion.
I also built it with Nepal in mind. That's why there's a Nepali language option — I want students and professionals in Nepal to have a world-class tool in their own language.
DesiConvert is built with Python (Flask), PyMuPDF, pdf2docx, Pillow, and Bootstrap 5. Hosted on a production server with automatic file cleanup. The entire codebase was written by me.
I'm planning to add more tools — Excel to PDF, OCR (text extraction from scanned documents), video conversion, and a premium plan for power users. This is just the beginning.
